Happy birthday to Leon Van Daele who was born on this day in 1933, and died on April 30, 2000.
The Belgian rider is best remembered for winning the 1958 Paris-Roubaix Classic in front of Miguel Poblet of Spain and Rik Van Looy of Belgium.
In addition, Van Daele was 3rd in the 1957 Paris-Roubaix Classic behind Belgians Fred De Bruyne and Rik Van Steenbergen. He also won the Ghent-Wevelgem Classic in 1959.
