Rohan Dennis won stage 6 of the Tour of California today, after setting the fastest time during the Individual Time Trial in Folsom.
The BMC rider scorched the 20.3 kilometer course in a time of 24:16, beating his closest rival, Andrew Talansky (Cannondale), by 17 seconds, while his teammate, Taylor Phinney, who set the early fastest time of 24:36, managed to hold onto third spot on the podium.
Meanwhile, race leader, Julian Alaphilippe (Etixx-QuickStep) put in a strong performance, finishing with the eighth fastest time, which was enough for the French rider to retain his hold on the overall race lead.
Dennis’s time elevates him to second place in the general classification, 16 seconds behind Alaphilippe, with Brent Bookwalter (BMC Racing) in their spot at 38 seconds back.
