Bianchi unveiled the latest disc brake version of its popular Oltre XR3 road bike today, marking the Italian brand’s first race inspired disc brake equipped model that incorporates the company’s Countervail carbon technology.
The new Oltre XR3 Disc extols all of the virtues of its caliper brake sibling, but with a revised carbon construction specifically designed to handle the increase load and application of flat-mount hydraulic disc brakes (compatible with 140mm or 160mm rotors) and 12mm thru-axles, as well as a wider fork crown with a 1.25 to 1.5 inch tapered carbon steerer that features top entry internal brake cable routing to the front disc.
Additional features that carry over to the Oltre XR3 Disc, include full carbon drop-outs, reshaped chainstays, the same aero seatpost (available in either zero or 25mm setback), a PF86 bottom bracket and internal cable routing throughout.
According to Bianchi, the new Oltre XR3 Disc will come equipped with Shimano’s R8000 Ultegra groupset and hydraulic disc brakes, along with Fulcrum Racing’s 418 wheelset shod with 28mm Vittoria Rubino Pro tires, while finished off in the company’s signature celeste green and matte black color scheme.
“For the rider, the new Bianchi Oltre XR3 Disc is a revelation on the road. The combination of the special carbon formula architecture and viscoelastic resin in the Countervail equipped frame and the consistent power, precision and modulation of disc brakes, makes the new Bianchi Oltre XR3 Disc the ideal handling fast aero road bike – on any road, in any weather“, says Bianchi.
Bianchi has yet to announce pricing for the Oltre XR3 Disc.
