Now in its forth generation, BMC has unveiled its latest Timemachine Mpc time trial bike, boasting a radical new silhouette that features massive fork legs and seat stays, resulting in what the Swiss brand claims is 3% performance gain to the system (rider + components + frame), with the frameset alone achieving a staggering 37.6 % aerodynamic improvement over previous generations.
“Speed is usually defined by data and technology. The BMC Timemachine Mpc. tells a different story: one shaped by people, not numbers. Four human forces, united by a single obsession: winning. At the center are the BMC Impec Lab team led by Stefan Christ, the Tudor Pro Cycling Innovation team under Kurt Bergin-Taylor, BMC’s leadership led by CEO John Glett, and Tudor Pro Cycling owner Fabian Cancellara. Because achieving something exceptional demands deep collaboration, within a company, across teams and at every level,” says BMC.
How?
Working closely with the Tudor Pro Cycling Team, Time Machine Mpc underwent extensive computational fluid dynamics (CFD), wind tunnel testing and real-world testing to achieve its wind cheating capabilities.
“After hundreds of hours, CFD simulations, prototyping, wind tunnel testing, laps of the velodrome as well as real world analysis, after much blood, sweat and tears, the teams ended up with a Timemachine that made the full system drag 4.1% faster, if only the process ended there, in walks the UCI. The UCI introduced a new set of rules from the 2026 season onwards. The combined power of the Tudor Pro Cycling innovation team together with the Impec Lab engineers, allowed the remodeling, prototyping and testing of a UCI approved platform in a matter of weeks, with a final overall system drag reduction of 3.7%. Overshooting the ambitious kick-off goal of 3%, the result was clear: when the clock is ticking, speed still finds a way,” explains BMC.
Elsewhere, BMC decided to dial-in some additional aero features such as a tilted front brake caliper mount and SpeedFin tails on the rear dropouts to further reduce drag around the cassette and brakes, while the new platform lends itself to both 1x or 2x groupsets, oversize chainrings and enough clearance to accommodate tires up to 30mm.
What’s the Mpc suffix all about?
Mpc stands for Masterpiece, indicating that the new Timemachine frameset is built to BMC’s highest standards, featuring an intricate fabrication process that results a one-piece main frame in order to keep weight to a minimum.
While the Timemachine Mpc is aimed purely at pro racing segment, specifically the Tudor Pro Cycling Team, the UCI rules stipulate that equipment used in competition must be available for purchase.
That means, the frameset is available for the rest of the cycling masses, albeit for a staggering $21,299.
