Canyon is offering gravelers some added boost with the launch of its new Grizl:ON range of electric gravel bikes, combining “everyday practicality and boundary-pushing exploration” thanks to a robust Bosch Performance Line SX motor that features a 400-watt-hour battery with 55Nm of torque, plus a 250-watt-hour range extender option.
Available in three guises, the Grizl:ON models comprise a full-carbon frame that’s fitted with a RockShox Rudy gravel fork, along with several other clever features such as a Lupine Nano SL headlight, integrated seat stay rear lights and Canyon’s S14 VCLS 2.0 seatpost for added comfort, as well as accessories like a stem bolt mounted GPS mount, mudguards with a built-in rack, Ortlieb Gravel Pack panniers and a Fidlock magnetic frame bag.
Here’s how the models breakdown:
The Grizl:ON CF Trail is the flagship model, which comes equipped with a wide-range mullet drivetrain that combines SRAM Force AXS levers with an XO Eagle mullet transmission (42T / 10-52T). Plus, the bike comes fitted with a RockShox Rudy Ultimate XPLR suspension fork, a RockShox Reverb AXS XPLR 75 mm dropper seatpost and DT Swiss HGC14000 wheels shod with Schwalbe G-One Ultrabite 50 mm tires. All in, the bike tips the scales at 15.5kg and sells for €7,999.
At 15.3kg, the $6,000 Grizl:ON CF 9 is the lightest build courtesy of a full SRAM Force AXS XPLR drivetrain (42T, 10-44T) with a Rock Shox Rudy Ultimate XPLR suspension fork, while the S14 VCLS 2.0 seat post and Schwalbe G-One Bite Evo 45mm tires save some weight over the Trail model.
The Grizl:ON CF Daily is aimed more at the urban cyclist, which comes spec’d with a Shimano GRX 12sp (42T, 10-45T) groupset, DT Swiss HG1800 wheels and Schwalbe G-One Overland 45mm tires. The bike also comes optioned with Canyon’s Defend Fender Carrier as standard so you can fit panniers. Tipping the scales at 17.6kg, the bike sells for €5,499.
All models are available now in Europe, while just the Grizl:ON CF 7 and Grizl:ON CF 9 can currently be purchased in the US.
Additionally, all of the bikes fall under Class 3 eBike status, which can achieve speeds of 45 kph (28 mph). In the cast of the US models, they spec’d with a larger 44T chainring.
