After calling upon the expertise of industry veterans Carl Bird and Eric Horton of FORM8ION, Canyon has decided to step into the cycling shoe segment with the launch of its new Tempr CFR, featuring both road and off-road models to satisfy roadies and gravelers alike.
“Our first shoes straight out of the block are pushing state-of-the-art performance and have already proven themselves at the highest levels of racing. We are known for challenging the status quo with our design expertise and our athlete input. With these shoes we’ve achieved another innovation milestone,” said Stan Mavis, Canyon’s global director gear.
The new shoes are packed with a host of technologies that Canyon dubs “Percent+” such as the “PerformFit Wrap System” upper that was developed with BOA, a system that Canyon says is designed to “encircle the rider’s heel and arch, control the instep and lock the heel in place in order to eliminate unnecessary foot movement within the shoe and provides freedom from pressure points across the arch of the foot. The shoes also feature a stretchy, sock-like tongue to ensure both a snug fit, as well as provide added pressure relief zones.
Additionally, the Tempr CFRs are treated to a Purefit360 insert, which was developed with renowned insole maker Solestar, resulting in what Canyon says “promotes natural foot movement and maintains a neutral position for maximum power transfer, without compromising comfort.”
Weighing in at a svelt 250 grams (size 42), the Tempr CFR road shoe is available in white and black, while the off-road variant is offered in black with a gum tread, or grey or white with a black tread that carries a slight weight penalty of 290 grams.
Both versions are priced at $330, which are available in sizes ranging from 36 to 48, with half sizes from 40.5 to 46.5.
