Chapter 2 Shows-Off New RIRA Road Bike

Building upon the success of its TOA road bike, the RIRA takes Chapter 2’s approach to geometry and blends it with even more refined materials and aerodynamics to create a balance of responsiveness, stiffness and comfort.

“In a world where every new bike launch is accompanied by lofty claims of “fastest bike in the world” or “save X watts over a 40km/hr solo ride” etc. it would be easy to forget that cycling is about the senses, the beauty of suffering up a massive col, then dipping into a valley with the surroundings flashing by as if you’re traveling through time. The RIRA is all about the “touchy, feely” side of cycling. While the svelte weight and the carefully dialed stiffness-to-weight ratio matter to our product team who geek out over Toray T1100 grade specifications, fiber orientation and watts saved, etc., it’s what we deliver to your soul that matters to us most,” boasts the Australian brand.

The RIRA features a T47 85.5 bottom bracket that’s quickly becoming the standard for high tolerance and stiffness, as well as offering many BB and Crankset options in the market, along with Chapter 2’s optional C2 TUMU seatpost that tips the scales at a feathery 219 grams.

Elsewhere, the RIRA frameset is fitted with a SRAM UDH Hanger, or a Shimano Direct Mount Hanger that are only compatible with electronic groupsets, while clearance has been bolstered to accommodate hefty tires up to 32mm in the rear and 34mm in the front, ensuring a smooth, fast plush ride quality.

All in, Chapter 2 says the RIRA weighs in at 950 grams, not a weight that will win any plaudits from the weight weenies faction, but an acceptable one nonetheless.

The RIRA is sold as a frameset only for $2,549, which is available in five sizes that span XS to XL.
