Continental has rolled out its latest road tire dubbed the Grand Prix TR, offering many of the same attributes as the brand’s more premium GP5000 but at far less cost.
The Grand Prix TR features a new 4-ply construction that Continental claims “balances low weight with puncture protection”, along with the same BlackChili compound found on the GP5000.
“We recognized that many riders wanted to experience some of the performance benefits of our top-tier race tires in a more accessible package. With the Grand Prix TR, we’ve brought tubeless-ready technology, strong puncture protection, and excellent rolling resistance to a wider audience. It delivers a smooth, confident ride across a variety of road surfaces—making it a tire for every ride,” boasts Hannah Ferle, Road Product Manager at Continental Tires.
To further keep the cost down, the Grand Prix TR comprises a new lower-count 60 TPI (threads-per-inch) casing, while Continental’s Lazer Grip-inspired tread pattern is designed to give the tire greater versatility across a range of surface conditions.
The Grand Prix TR sells for $68.00, which is available in sizes that span 700×25, 28, 30 and 32c with black or tan sidewalls.
Additionally, Continental also offers a standard clincher version simply called the Grand Prix.
