Thibaut Pinot (FDJ) won today’s Individual Time Trial at the Criterium International in Porto Vecchio, marking the French rider’s first win of the season, as well as his first-ever victory in a race against the clock.
Pinot set the fastest time of 9:11 along today’ 7 kilometer course, beating current French national champion Jérôme Coppel (IAM Cycling), while his teammate, Alexandre Geniezby, rounded out the podium in third spot – at three seconds back.
Following today’s results, Pinot moved up into the overall race lead, just two seconds ahead of Coppel, as they turn to tomorrow’s final, hilly stage on the Col de l’Ospedale, which will likely have a profound impact on the final outcome of the race.
