Cyclehack is Back for 2015
CYCLEHACK IS A GLOBAL MOVEMENT ON A MISSION TO MAKE THE WORLD MORE SUSTAINABLE THROUGH REDUCING THE BARRIERS TO CYCLING. BY TAKING A GRASSROOTS APPROACH TO INNOVATION WE ARE TOOLING UP CITIZENS TO TAKE A PRO-ACTIVE, DIY APPROACH TO MAKING CYCLING EASIER, MORE FUN, AND ACCESSIBLE.
We believe that through empowering individuals, orgnisations and governments to collaborate, share skills and prototype new ideas around cycling, we can build a healthier, more active and sustainable world. Since we started in 2014, we have been catalysing a global movement of CycleHackers, a dynamic community of people who have participated in our events. Through research and development, we provide communities with different perspectives on how cycling can be made more accessible and the tools to design solutions that pro-actively solve barriers they face everyday.
THE CYCLEHACK WEEKEND
In 2015, CycleHack will take place in over 35 cities across the globe. Our HQ is Glasgow, Scotland and you can sign up for a ticket on the right or check out some of the other venues who will be posting their sign up pages shortly.
STARTING A GLOBAL MOVEMENT
Our route starts with catalysing a global movement of CycleHackers. Providing people with the tools and space to gain new vantage points on how cycling can be made more accessible and the tools to design solutions to pro-actively solve barriers. This is run through our global CycleHack events and sign up of CycleHackers, taking place once a year.
RUNNING AN OPEN-SOURCE CATALOGUE
We operate an online catalogue where all CycleHacks are shared. These include the barrier, the solution and links to files that support how the idea was developed and might work. We encourage urban prototypes to be trialled. This is the act of taking an idea and testing it in the real world.
OFFERING NEW SKILLS & TOOLS
We’re bringing a design thinking approach to the cycling world which focuses on user needs and takes a holistic approach to problem solving. Through transforming seemingly small barriers to cycling into CycleHack opportunities, these can be developed to collectively make a big difference.
