Little known on these shores, Edeco is hoping to land a bigger a footprint with its new Julier Light Supersport carbon wheelset.
The first time (and perhaps the last time as well), that I came across a set of Edco wheels, is when they came through on a Museeuw road bike a few years ago.
I recall them being nicely finished, with a silky smooth set of hubs indeed, but that was the extent of my experience with them.
However, the Swiss brand reappeared at this year’s Interbike Show with these pretty exciting looking wheels – for sure.
The Julier Light is comprised of a 28mm rim profile by 25mm wide, which features an 8K carbon weave composition, Sapin’s CX-Carbon spokes (which Edco claims they had a hand in developing) and a unique interlocking drive-side hub flange that secures each spoke in place.
Once tensioned, it’s nearly impossible for any spoke to come loose. However, in order to un-tension a spoke, it must be bent over the flange in order to replace it.
According to Edco, the Julier Light rims weigh a scant 270g in tubular and 370g in clincher/tubeless.
No word on availability or pricing for the US market, but where there’s a will, there’s a way to probably get your hands on a set.
