Happy birthday to Edwig Van Hooydonck who was born on this day in 1968.
The Belgian rider is best known for winning the prestigious Tour of Flanders Classic in 1989 and 1991.
In addition, Van Hooydonck finished 3rd in the 1989 Paris-Roubaix Classic behind fellow countryman Jean-Marie Wampers and Dirk De Wolf. He was also 3rd in the 1990 Paris-Roubaix behind Eddy Planckaert of Belgium and Steve Bauer of Canada.
Additionally, Van Hooydonck won the 1989 Kuurne–Brussels–Kuurne race, along with numerous victories and stage wins in lesser known events.
