Focus has updated its Atlas range of gravel bikes, treating them to mounting points galore along the frame and fork, as well as a return of the German brand’s Adventure Rack, while the Atlas 6.8 EQP takes things ever further by adding front and rear pannier racks, fenders and a Dynamo hub that can juice-up lights both front and back. Moreover, Focus also offers its new front Hawaii Rack that can handle loads up to 5kg (that’s 11 pounds for us yanks).
Additionally, the Atlas 8 series features in-frame storage, which Focus calls a Prep Pocket, providing enough space to house two Prep Packs that each contain a multitool, CO2 cartridge, a tube and tire levers, or ample space for food items if you just go with one Prep Pack.
Elsewhere, the Altas ditches the Road Boost standard in favor of new 12×100 and 12×142 spacing, resulting in fewer standards and easier maintenance, while the geometry has been tweaked ever-so-slightly, bolstering agility courtesy of a shorter wheelbase, shorter trail measurement, increased fork rake and a slightly lower stack. Plus, a shorter seat tube adds a touch more compliance for added comfort and stability.
The new Atlas in offered in two guises, the 6 Series that features an aluminum frame, and the more premium 8 Series bumps up to carbon fiber, with pricing that starts at 1,799 € for the entry-level Atlas 6.7, up to 5,299 € for the range-topping Atlas 8.9.
Here’s how the models break down:
