Adherents of the British brand who are looking to cheat the wind, Hunt has rewarded them with a deeper section wheelset called the 60 Limitless.
According to Hunt, its new disc brake specific, tubeless-ready wheelset is optimized for 25mm to 28mm tires thanks to an external width of 34mm and an internal width of 21mm, which features Hunt’s Limitless Width Technology that comprises co-moulded low-density polymer in the outer rim construction in order to accommodate wider tire options, while also keeping the overall weight low.
The profile also claims to minimize drag by helping the airflow remain attached longer as it passes over the rim.
“Based on a truncated airfoil shape with a rounded but slightly less U-shaped profile than on lower depth Hunt Limitless offerings, it balances very low aerodynamic drag with maintaining stability in handling,” says Hunt.
“Consistent and predictable bike handling during varying side wind conditions empowers the rider to maintain the most aerodynamic position on the bicycle and fully utilize the benefits of aerodynamically optimized wheels.” Moreover, they say wind tunnel data independently published by Mavic shows the 60 Limitless offers “significant reductions in aerodynamic drag while maintaining a smooth steering moment, especially at greater yaw angles, when variable incoming airflows can be most disruptive to the rider. The data, analyzed with yaw angle weightings, also showed our 60 Limitless wheels averaged the equivalent of 0.35 watts slower than the Enve 5.6 SES Disc and just 0.22 watts slower than the Roval Rapide CLX, putting the wheelset third fastest in its testing,” they add.
The 60 Limitless rim is paired with Hunt’s FastEngage Sprint hubs with 7.5 degrees of engagement and aero Pillar Elliptical spokes, resulting in a claimed weight of 1669g, along with a choice of either EZO or premium low-friction CeramicSpeed bearings.
The 60 Limitless wheelset sells for $1,519, which is available for pre-order on the Hunt website, with expected delivery in April.
