Hunt has spun up its latest gravel-specific wheelset called 40 Limitless Gravel Aero, featuring staggered rim profiles of 40mm up front and 41mm in the rear that’s based upon a hookless design.
Three years in the making and no fewer than 2500 hours of CFD testing with numerous 3D-printed prototypes, the British brand says the new wheelset builds upon its 42 Limitless Gravel Aero, which sees a decrease in rim depth by 2mm, resulting in a 220-gram savings that brings the overall weight down to a feathery 1,328 grams.
Elsewhere, the 40 Limitless Gravel Aero is once again treated to Hunt’s carbon spokes laced in a 20/20 pattern that spins on its H_Ratchet DBL hubs with 48 points of engagement.
Additionally, with internal widths of 27mm (front) and 26mm (rear), Hunts says the wheels are optimized for tires that span 40mm to 45mm, particularly Schwalbe’s G-One Allround and G-One models.
Prices for the Hunt 40 Limitless Gravel Aero wheelset fitted with steel spokes and bearings start at $1,849, while the upgrade to carbon spokes brings the cost to $2,279. Add in CeramicSpeed bearings, and the price increases to $2,989.
