Hunt has updated its 48 and 60 Limitless wheelsets with carbon spokes, boasting upwards of 100 grams in weight reduction, while also maintaining ease of serviceability thanks to the British brand’s Taper Lock spoke design.
“Compared to their steel spoke counterparts, both the 48 and 60 Limitless UD Carbon Spoke Disc wheelsets perform very similarly (within the margin of error for standardized wind tunnel testing), suggesting there is no material aerodynamic penalty associated with the bladed UD Carbon Spokes,” claims Hunt.
As its name implies, the 48 Limitless wheelset features a 48mm deep rim with a 35mm wide external and a 22.5mm hooked internal width rim that’s laced with 18 front and 20 rear unidirectional carbon fiber spokes, tipping the scales at a claimed 1511 grams.
Similarly, 60 Limitless wheelset is 60mm deep with a 34mm external width and 21mm hooked internal width rim that’s laced in the same pattern as the 48 limitless, which comes in at 1551 grams.
Additionally, both wheelsets are fitted with the same 12mm thru-axles, 7075 alloy Hunt Sprint SLC 7.5° engagement multi-point pawl hubs with a center-lock disc brake interface and premium steel EZO bearings standard, while CeramicSpeed ceramic bearings are available as an upgrade.
The 48 Limitless wheelset with steel bearings sells for $1669, while their deeper counterparts fetch $1729.
Both wheelsets can be upgraded with CeramicSpeed bearings for $350.
