Happy birthday to José Pesarrodona,who born on this day in 1946.
The Spanish rider is best known for winning the 1976 Vuelta a Espana in ahead of Luis Ocana and Jose Nazabal of Spain. Two years later, he finished 2nd in the 1978 Vuelta behind Bernard Hinault of France.
Throughout his career, Pesarrodona achieved numerous top 10 finishes in the Tour de France, Giro d’Italia and Vuelta a Espana, to include a stage victory in the 1978 Tour de Suisse.
After years of racing with the KAS-Campagnolo team, and later Teka, Pessarrodona retired from racing in 1979, and went on to do some commentating for Spanish news.
