KASK Flaunts New Nirvana Aero Helmet

KASK is flaunting its latest helmet dubbed the Nirvana, touting it as the “fastest and best-ventilated” aero lid on the market.

Focussed on road, track and triathlon, KASK says the Nirvana was developed using extensive CFD (computational fluid dynamics) simulations to quantify aerodynamic performance, ventilation and thermoregulation, resulting in a claimed 35% reduction in aerodynamic drag and a 19% increase in ventilation “compared to the best aero helmets in its class.”

Elsewhere, the Nirvana features innovative ear covers that are designed to allow airflow to be channeled more efficiently around the helmet, while internal channeling has also been integrated to provide optimal thermoregulation to the front and top of the rider’s head.

Additionally, as with all KASK helmets, the Nirvana was designed in accordance with KASK’s Rotational Impact WG11 Test, an internal testing regime adopted by the Italian brand that measures the performance of its helmets against rotational impacts.

The helmet also features Multipod technology, comprising 3D-printed internal padding that enables the helmet to better withstand linear and rotational impacts isotropically, meaning it behaves the same way regardless of which direction the force is applied. Also, KASK points out that Multipod’s unique design also greatly improves the helmet’s ventilation by allowing air to pass directly through to the rider’s head, while Merino wool padding has also been positioned at the front and side of the helmet to ensure increased comfort and effective sweat absorption.

Other technical features that punctuate the Nirvana include KASK’s OCTOFIT+ adjustment system, which provides comfort and stability via micro-adjustments across the nape of the neck, along with a classic faux leather strap. The helmet also incorporates a sunglasses port at the front and a reflective graphic at the back.

The Nirvana is available in traditional Black Matt and White Matt, as well as Cherry Burst, Blueberry Fade and Ultraviolet, which sells for $400.
