Kask has unveiled an updated revision of its popular Protone helmet called the Protone Icon, touting a revamped construction that results in an improved aerodynamic signature and better ventilation than its predecessor.
Additionally, the Protone Icon also gets an updated version of Kask’s Octofit+ adjustment system, which comprises a new retention stabilizer that provides better stability across a broader range of head sizes, while the adjustment dial has been enlarged and treated to a rubber coating for ease of grip. The new lid also remains ponytail-compatible.
Regarding safety, while the Protone Icon is not equipped with the MIPS head protection system, Kask is quick to point out that the helmet was developed in accordance with the Italian brand’s WG11 protocol, which similarly relies on rotational kinematics to protect the cyclist’s head from both oblique and normal impacts.
Weighing in at an impressive 230 grams, the Protone Icon is available in three sizes and ten different colorways for $299.95.
