Komoot has launched a ChatGPT app that makes it possible to plan outdoor adventures using simple text queries. The app suggests a curated list of routes and landmarks based on a written request, unlocking a new way for cyclists to get inspired and explore the outdoors.
Readily accessible outdoor adventures
The new tool makes it frictionless to discover the outdoors through natural language prompts. Users can type a request and receive a curated list of route and landmark recommendations in seconds.
The Komoot for ChatGPT app unlocks a rich library of over 7 million routes and 4 million highlights. For existing komoot users, the new ChatGPT app enables faster route discovery that complements the advanced komoot tools many outdoor enthusiasts rely on. Using the “Open in Komoot” function, it’s possible to port the information directly from ChatGPT to the Komoot platform to save, edit, or download a route for offline navigation, and more.
AI-powered recommendations
The new app facilitates more advanced route discovery. Users can find routes and landmarks with specific characteristics, such as length, location, duration, and sport type, with a simple query that can go beyond Komoot’s predefined keyword categories and filters. It’s also possible to make more tailored requests, such as requesting a specific number of route options or expressing a preference to see the results as a list or map view.
“As people increasingly use ChatGPT for everything from daily tasks to trip planning, Komoot’s app brings Komoot directly into the workflows people are already using to find inspiration and shape their plans,” says project lead Felix Tarcomnicu. “This evolution of Komoot’s navigation and route planning technology will make exploring the outdoors even easier for people worldwide.”
The Komoot for ChatGPT app is available to download at this link. Once downloaded, the app can be triggered in the ChatGPT chat bar with “@komoot”.
