Collaborations between marque automobile companies and bike brands are nothing new. Colnago was perhaps the first to do so with Ferrari decades ago, joining two iconic Italian houses in pursuit of two-wheel perfection instead of the usual four.
The latest to embark upon such a partnership are Mercedes-Benz and the virtually unknown bike brand NPlus Bikes, who together have developed a limited edition bike that celebrates the German automaker’s AMG Petronas Formula One team.
However, details on the bike are scarce, with only a spartan web-page that gives very little information on its origins and availability. To wit, “to guarantee a level of exclusivity, the road bikes are hand crafted by the F1 Team members from the paint shop at the Brackley UK headquarters and are individually signed by the craftsman,” suggesting the bike’s DNA lies somewhere in Great Britain.
NPlus Bikes has posted a number of images of the AMG Petronas V11 on both its website and over social media, showing what appears to be the latest trappings of the aero bike segment, including a SRAM Red AXS groupset, deep section carbon wheels, an intricate looking seatpost design and turquoise colored sidewalls on the tires that give a nod to the team’s livery.
It’s hard to know if the AMG Petronas V11 really exists, or if it’s merely a concept bike that’s aimed at provoking intrigue.
I guess we won’t know until we actually see someone swing a leg over one in the flesh.
