A new helmet that’s currently under development called CoolHead, is touting itself as being, well “the coolest helmet in the world”.
In order to get CoolHead into full production, the helmet’s founder, Sergejs Zelinskis, launched a crowd-funding campaign on Kickstarter this week, saying “I’ve faced many race and training days alike when temperatures have reached dangerous highs, putting myself and other riders at risk.”
“After years of being driven inside to train or risking my health in high temperatures, I set out to develop a helmet that would solve this problem once and for all.”
CoolHead differentiates itself from other designs by virtue of its special lining, which according to Zelinskis, when soaked with water for a cooling effect, remains dry to the touch. That material combined with strategically place vents are the hallmarks of its design.
In addition, CoolHead also features an integrated visor, or “optical shield” as Zelinskis calls it, which uses a magnetic attachment system.
Zelinskis is seeking a crowd-funding goal of $3,240, which has already achieved three-quarters of its funding. In addition, there are numerous incentives for early backers starting $105, with delivery slated for June.
