Fast on the heels of its freshly minted Terra gravel bike, Orbea has unveiled an aero-optimized version aptly dubbed the Terra Race, featuring an all-new silhouette and race-inspired geometry that the Spanish brand is claiming “is the most aggressive gravel bike on the market.”
“The Terra Race’s light and responsive OMX carbon frame and race-tuned geometry deliver serious performance. Everywhere. Whether you’re chasing the podium or pushing your own limits, Terra Race is built to put you ahead of the pack and keep you there,” adds Orbea.
In addition to cheating the wind, the Terra Race also tips the scales in its favor, coming in at an impressive weight of 910 grams in an unpainted size medium thanks to Orbea’s OMX carbon construction, while the fork weighs in at a fairly svelte 410 grams as well.
Other design pillars include Orbea’s fully integrated OC SH-RA10 aero cockpit, newly sculpted flattened dropped seat stays for further aero effect, top tube mounts, a removable front derailleur to accommodate 1x drivetrains and a UDH compatible rear drop-out.
However, many will think the Terra Race comes up short on clearance, allowing only enough space to accommodate tires up to 45mm, an odd departure from most gravel bikes that can sport rubber upwards of 60mm
Lastly, while a suspension isn’t in the offing, Orbea says it’s possible to run a 30-40mm travel fork with no negative effect on the geometry.
The Terra Race is available in five guises that span groupsets from Shimano GRX RX820 to the range-topping SRAM Red XPLR AXS in three new colorways, Frozen Concrete, Spaceship Green and Sunset Carbon, as well as the option for customization through Orbea’s MyO program.
