Princeton CarbonWorks has spun its newest Wake 6560 Evolution II wheelset, calling it the fastest UCI-legal wheels the American brand has ever tested in the wind tunnel.
How?
Now in its 6th generation, Wake 6560 Evolution II was designed under the watchful eye of Princeton CarbonWorks’ CEO and lead engineer Harrison Macris, who tapped the expertise of Luca Oggiano (who he collaborated with on projects such as Filippo Gannna’s World Hour Record wheels), as well as Nablaflow’s Themis Petridi, to put the new set of hoops through extensive CFD analysis and wind tunnel testing, focusing on varying internal and external rim and tire widths to optimize aerodynamic efficiency, ultimately arriving at internal and external rim parameters of 22mm and 33mm, respectively.
Additionally, the team developed a new carbon layup that shed an impressive 50 grams off each rim, reducing the total wheelset weight by 10%, while also surpassing the UCI’s impact requirements threefold.
Elsewhere, the Wake 6560 Evolution II retains the same molded rim bed, making tubeless setup cleaner and more secure by eliminating the need for rim tape, while things spin on a choice of six different hub options.
Depending on the choice of hubs, the Wake 6560 Evolution II ranges in price from $3,550 to $4,500, with ten paint finishes that span Matte Black, Gloss Black, Matte White, Gloss White, Gloss Gold, and Gloss Chrome, as well as four new colorways in Gloss Sand, Gloss Cobalt, Gloss Red and Gloss Chameleon
