Cycling’s governing body, the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), announced the list of all 18 teams today, which will make up next year’s WorldTour calendar.
A new edition to the list, is Dimension Data, which absorbed the successful MTN-Qhubeka continental team.
This means, no more wildcard invitations necessary for the African team, in order to take part in cycling’s biggest bike races, such as the Tour de France, Giro d’Italia and Paris-Roubaix.
In addition, Cannondale, Etixx-QuickStep, Katusha, Lampre-Merida, Lotto-Soudal and Tinkoff, all received renewal of their WorldTour licenses, while the USA continues to represent the country with the most number of WorldTour teams, with BMC, Cannondale and Trek.
