UCI Forces Ritchey to Remove Iconic WCS Rainbow Stripes from Logo

After more than 30 years, cycling’s governing body, the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), has forced Ritchey to remove the iconic rainbow stripes from its logo.

“After 30+ years of a logo synonymous with victories at Union Cycliste International (UCI) World Cup and Championship races, the time has come for Ritchey — in accordance with UCI regulations — to retire the iconic rainbow stripes that dignify world champions in all cycling disciplines. The agreement between the UCI and Ritchey to use the world champion stripes expired at the end of 2024 and is not eligible for renewal. Ritchey would like to acknowledge the decades-long partnership and thank the UCI for the use of the celebrated symbol,” explains Ritchey.

“It has been an honor for Ritchey to bear the mark of champions, thanks in no small part to the athletes, like inaugural Mountain Bike World Champion Don Myrah, Ruthie Matthes, Henrik Djernis, Thomas Frischknecht, Nino Schurter, and Jenny Rissveds, who have helped make the brand the standard of excellence that pro racers expect from their componentry,” Ritchey said. “We are now moving on to the next brilliant phase of Ritchey’s WCS logo,” adds the American brand.

The new WCS product logo has the same font as before but the five stripes will be a uniform shade of metallic gray, while references on ritcheylogic.com, as well as on product packaging will be in Ritchey’s signature blue.

All WCS products produced as of Jan. 1 will have the new logo. Ritchey says some products in its stock still have the rainbow stripes logo.
