Vittoria is offering a new tire pressure calculator, taking what the Italian brand says is a “scientific approach” to optimal pressure across all disciplines.
“One of the most asked questions to us, by both pros and amateurs, is what pressure should they use? We started analyzing all the tools that are in the market and we realized there are actually quite a number of gaps. They are not scientifically optimized. We worked with all our professional teams and the amateurs we collaborate with to understand this. And then we started formulating our hypothesis – our idea of which factors are impacting tire pressure,” explains Vanessa ten Hoff, Vittoria’s chief marketing and innovation officer.
Based on tire type; wheel size, tire size, the combined weight of the rider and bike, along with riding style, skill level, weather, or whether inner tubes, tubeless tires, or tire inserts are being used, the new calculator can offer optimal tire pressure recommendations, even specific pressures for front and rear.
“We started testing in the laboratory and in the Vittoria Park this formula to really optimize it for all the categories and all the settings that one can imagine. We then went back out again and tested with all our teams and with the amateurs to really have a very solid support for our consumers when they’re looking for tire pressures,” Ten Hoff further explains.
While Vittoria developed the tool for its own range of tires, the calculator can also be used with any brand.
