Wahoo Announces New Firmware Update for KICKR HEADWIND

Wahoo has announced a major firmware update for its KICKR HEADWIND smart fan, delivering a more immersive experience for both new and existing users thanks to expanded sensor compatibility, seamless pairing, Adaptive Cooling and Wahoo’s KICKR RUN speed integration.

Launched in 2018, the KICKR HEADWIND was the first smart fan designed specifically for indoor training, relying on Airflow Pattern that mirrors the rider’s body position by automatically adjusting airflow based on sensor data, making it a key tool for cyclists who train indoors.

What’s New?

Expanded Sensor Compatibility

KICKR HEADWIND now supports Bluetooth sensors and works with KICKR RUN, footpod sensors, power meters and CORE body temperature sensors, automatically adjusting fan speed based on the user’s pace, power zones or body temperature to deliver precise, responsive cooling for optimal indoor training comfort and performance.

Seamless pairing

Users can now pair and manage their KICKR HEADWIND connected sensors in the Wahoo App, taking the guesswork out of selecting the correct sensor and not just pairing to the sensor with the strongest signal.

Adaptive Cooling

KICKR HEADWIND can now use data from multiple connected sensors to adjust cooling in real time based on the user’s effort, helping keep them comfortable during and after peak efforts.  Whether it’s heart rate and power or power and body temperature, the user can pair up to 5 supported sensors at the same time for an optimized cooling experience.

KICKR RUN Speed Integration

With the KICKR RUN’s innovative RunFree Mode already adjusting belt speed automatically for hands-free running, users can now enjoy an even more immersive experience as the KICKR HEADWIND automatically adapts airflow to their pace.

“At Wahoo, we’re focused on making every workout better for our users,” said Gareth Joyce, CEO of Wahoo. “This firmware update is available to all KICKR HEADWIND owners globally, keeping the product fresh and smart, with features that adapt to pace, power, and physiology. We’re committed to creating tools that last, evolve, and continue to add real value to every workout.”

  • KICKR HEADWIND retains the same price at $319.99
  • The updated firmware is available to all existing and future KICKR HEADWIND users
