Yashica and I’m Back have teamed up on a new helmet dubbed the VirtusX1, targeting urban cyclists who put technology on par with safety.
“Cycling without the right gear can be risky. Poor visibility, lack of video documentation, and the hassle of managing multiple devices put you at a constant disadvantage. The VirtusX1 changes everything. It’s an all-in-one safety solution designed for urban commuters and outdoor riders,” boasts Yashica and I’m Back.
Looking like something right out of Star Wars, the VirtusX1 features a wide-angle Yashica lens, a 2K camera and wireless connectivity, allowing riders to capture clear video at 2K/30p or 1080/60p, while also recording audio courtesy of a built-in speaker so they can document rides for both fun or for safety and security reasons. Plus, the camera is controlled via a handlebar-mounted remote that pairs seamlessly with the I’m Back mobile app, letting riders view live camera footage and save recordings to their phone so they can edit and share videos.
Additionally, the VirtusX1 supports microSD cards up to 128GB, as well as a 1,600 mAh battery that promises up to 10 hours of operation when using the helmet’s built-in lights, while the helmet charges using a USB-C cable.
Lastly, the VirtusX1 meets both European NTA-8776 regulations for high-speed eBikes and standard bike regulations such as EN 1078/CPSC.
The VirtusX1 through a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo for $180, a 40% saving for early backers with an expected launch date of July 2025.
