Vuelta a Espana 2014 Stage 21

Movistar’s Adriano Malori won the 21st and final stage of this year’s Vuelta a Espana today, after setting the fastest time around the 9.7 kilometer individual time trial course in Santiago de Compostela.

The Italian time trial specialist eclipsed Jesse Sergent’s earlier mark by eight seconds with a time of 11:12, while Rohan Dennis (Garmin Sharp) finished with the third fastest time.

Meanwhile, Alberto Contador took no chances along the rain soaked course, finishing safely in 101st  place – 1:40 down on Malori’s time.

Both Chris Froome (Sky) and Alejandro Valverde (Movistar) finished well enough today, to maintained their respective spots on the final podium.
