Kreuziger, Roche, Nieve, Landa, Moreno Moser and a few other riders initiated a move on the climb of the Jaizkibel. While other big-name riders and teams failed to follow.
Kreuziger was the first to summit the Jaizkibel. However, he was caught on the fast descent by a group containing Sylvain Chavanel and Mikel Astarloza.
