Sean Yates Says Armstrong Was Treated Unfairly

Former pro rider and Team Sky sporting director, Sean Yates, told the  BBC, that his former teammate Lance Armstrong has been unfairly treated.

As many know, Armstrong was stripped of his seven Tour de France titles and banned for life from the sport, following the results of an investigation led by the United States Anti-Doping Agency, which revealed a long-term, systematic use for performance enhancing drugs on the part of the defrocked cyclist.

Yates, a former teammate with a young Armstrong on the Motorola team in the 1990’s, reunited with him on the Discovery Team in 2005, when Armstrong won the last of his seven titles.

They also worked together in 2009 on the Astana Team.

Yates says Armstrong was "a stand-out figure" who was "hunted down" and "took the brunt of the blame" in the drugs scandal of 2012.
