The inaugural Trois Etapes Giro will take place in the Dolomites from Thursday June 6 to Sunday June 9 next year, organisers Cosaveli have confirmed.
Now in its third year, the pro-am Trois Etapes TdF – which will also return next August – has raised nearly $6 million for its charity partners prompting Cosaveli to add a Giro edition to their Global Series.
And the new event will see riders take in the iconic summits of the Passo Pordoi, Passo Giau, Passo San Pellegrino and Passo Fedaia.
Designed to give riders the chance to experience team cycling under race conditions, the events provide each of the 15 eight-man charity teams the full support professionals have in a Grand Tour.
Each team contains one professional and has its own car and a directeur sportif, with radio links to the team car and race director provided for every rider.
Niels Bryan-Low, CEO of organisers Cosaveli, said: “Our Giro and TdF events in 2014 are going to be more breathtaking and spectacular than ever before.
“2014 is going to be another big year for Cosaveli. With two Trois Etapes events now on the calendar, we’re hoping to raise more money for charity than ever before.”
Each rider involved raises funds for their charity team, with new charity partners added to the billing for next year’s races.

Trois Etapes Giro 2014 "the toughest race, in the world’s most beautiful place"
No other country in the World shows as much passion for the sport of cycling as Italy does. The Giro d’Italia also affectionately known as The Giro, was founded in 1909, it is the second biggest professional bicycle race in the World.
In 2014 Cosaveli will add a ‘Trois Etapes Giro’ edition to its Trois Etapes Global pro-am race series. Using some of the most iconic and stunningly beautiful climbs in cycling, to create another event that will capture the very essence of the professional race that takes place over these same mountain passes.
This inaugural event will be based in the Dolomite town of Arraba, and will use Passo Fedaia "Marmolada", Passo Pordoi and Passo Giau to test the strength and strategy of the eight teams who will compete to be crowned our ‘Trois Etapes Giro’ champions.
