Trek Bicycle will celebrate the retirement of popular, German pro Jens Voigt, with special events and products during this week’s USA Pro Challenge.
The USA Pro Challenge marks the last professional race in the U.S. for the Trek Factory Racing Team rider.
Trek is hosting special events that are open to the public, during the Aspen and Vail stages, and will offer limited edition Jens gear.
In addition, Trek has built two special edition Farewell Jens bikes, which feature a chrome finish and custom graphics, including a toptube graphic that recalls highlights of Voigt’s 17-year career. Furthermore, the downtube graphic shows a "a running tally of the number of souls Voigt has crushed in his career of attacking, though the number is a conservative estimate," a Trek press release said.
Trek is also offering a special chrome Bontrager Velocis helmet, Bontrager XXX shoes and Bontrager Race Shop Limited jersey and shorts. Written across the back of the jersey is Jens’ goodbye message, "Farewell Fans!" The rear panel of his shorts says, "One last time".
Throughout the race, fans can tweet their congratulations and favorite Jens moments and quotes using the hashtag #FarewellJens.
