Aurum has launched the latest iteration of its Magma road bike dubbed the V2, touting improved aerodynamics and enhanced integration, resulting in a claimed 7-watt savings over its predecessor when riding at 45kph, while the new integrated cockpit yields an even greater feat in performance, leading to a saving of 10 watts.
The most noticeable change to the Magma V2’s silhouette includes new NACA airfoil profiles in the areas of the seatpost, seat tube and seatstays, along with a deeper, tapered head tube, while Aurum also says the bike’s aerodynamic signature has been further enhanced by a wider fork stance.
Additionally, the Magma V2 is treated to a sleek new aesthetic courtesy of a fully integrated cockpit that’s designed to work solely with electronic shifting.
Beyond the aero gains, Aurum says the stiffness-to-weight ratio of the Magma V2 has also been bolstered, comprising no fewer than six different types of carbon fiber in the lay-up process, yielding a desired ride characteristic for each size.
“Different lengths and sizes of tubes require different grades of carbon and number of layers,” says Aurum.
All in, Aurum says the new Magma V2 tips the scales at an impressive 780 grams in a size 54, with enough clearance to accommodate tires up to a beefy 35mm.
Lastly, in a move to ensure durability and ease of maintenance, the Magma V2 is treated to a T47 threaded bottom bracket.
The Magma V2 is available in five sizes, 48, 51, 54, 56 and 58, along with two color options – gloss carbon black or arctic white.
Prices for complete builds start from €8,099, while the frameset is available for €4,499.
