Beeline Launches New Velo 2 Navigation Computer

British routing and navigation specialist Beeline has announced the launch of its Kickstarter campaign for the Beeline Velo 2, billing it as “a cyclist’s dream routing companion for more enjoyable rides.”

“With thousands of new and existing riders searching out safer, simpler and better journeys by bike, Beeline has developed an improved navigation device that enhances the riding experience from the moment you start planning your ride. The Beeline Velo 2 boasts a brand new navigation interface, a larger display screen, a twist-lock mounting mechanism and improved waterproofing.”

The Beeline Velo 2 is paired with the Beeline App, which provides customized routes based on community feedback. Users can type in their destination and will be given varying journey options to get there, based on the type of ride they want to take. The Beeline Velo 2 will provide tracking details during the ride including a speedo, odometer and ETA.

In terms of battery life, the Beeline claims the Velo 2 has up to 10 hours of daytime use, 20 hours of night-time use and up to six months on standby.

This is Beeline’s second cycling-focused Kickstarter campaign, with the inaugural round of funding assisting the production of the Beeline Velo in 2015. The company adds that its original cycling computer has helped 20,979 people take more enjoyable rides across more than 70 countries, and its equity crowdfunding campaign was supported by many including British tennis star Andy Murray.

The Beeline Velo 2 will be available at exclusive prices for Kickstarter backers, starting at US$69.

“We’re absolutely delighted with the new Beeline Velo 2 and can’t wait to get it into the hands of our customers. Since COVID, cycling has played an even more crucial role in keeping people safe, healthy and happy, and this product is designed to make bike rides better for everyone,” says Beeline co-founder Mark Jenner.

“We started on Kickstarter back in 2015, so it’s great to be back to offer something special to that community,” he adds.

Founded in April 2015 by Jenner and Tom Putnam, London-based Beeline aims to help cyclists and motorcyclists have better journeys through intuitive navigation technology. Beeline’s philosophy is to give the simplest information required for navigation while on the move. They believe this results in fun, stress-free, safe journeys during which riders can focus on the road ahead rather than being distracted by technology.
