Bikepacking the Mega Mid South Loop

The Mega Mid South is a new 300-mile loop that was built using the outer perimeter of every Mid South course over the past 13 years and traverses the tribal land of the Quapaw, Kiowa, Osage, Kickapoo, Pawnee, Iowa, and Wichita Nations. It’s a route that folks can ride anytime on their own or with a group in the grand depart. To commemorate the completion of this route, the Mid South crew released a video series documenting their recon rides

EPISODE 1

The first episode chronicles a behind-the-scenes look at the Mid South team’s first recon trip on the new MEGA route.

EPISODE 2

In this episode, the intrepid team members wake after a night of rain. Despite impending storms, they set off from Liberty Lake in Guthrie to attempt 100 miles of dirt road riding.

EPISODE 3

After a muddy misadventure in November, the MEGA crew is back for redemption. Seth, Dave, and Tanner are joined by Lester and Mckinney to start a fresh run at the entire 300-mile route. These singlespeed heroes are faced with 25-mile-per-hour headwinds and unseasonable Central Oklahoma heat.

EPISODE 4

In this episode, the crew of singlespeed riders depart their second day of riding on the route, a 140-mile push from Guthrie to Pawnee, Oklahoma.

EPISODE 5

The final episode catches up with the crew after a tough 140-mile day ending at Pawnee Lake. They then tackle the final 60 miles back into Stillwater to complete the first consecutive run of the Mega Mid South.

The first ever grand depart of this loop will happen Wednesday, September 18th at 8 a.m. The event is free and 100% self-supported. Anyone who completes the Mega Mid South on this first grand depart will earn guaranteed entry into The Mid South 2025 in March. Learn more over at MidSouthGravel.com.
