Campagnolo has announced the launch of its new Shamal DB, offering adventure cyclists gravel grinding capabilities in a medium profile tubeless wheelset.
According to Campagnolo, the UD carbon Shamal DB wheelset features a 21mm internal width in staggered depths of 35mm upfront and 40mm in the rear, comprising the Italian brand’s MoMag rim bed that’s paired with a 2-Way Fit tubeless-ready hookless bead that can be used with any clincher tire. Moreover, while the wheelset has been optimized for tires ranging from 25mm to a whopping 65mm, rubber as narrow as 23mm can still be used.
Additionally, the new Shamal DB wheelset is fitted with Campagnolo’s N3W freehub body, which not only works with the company’s current 12-speed drivetrains, but as far back as its 8, 9, 10 and 11 speed groupseta, along with Shimano HG and SRAM XDR set-ups.
Lastly, the Shamal DB wheelset still relies on Campagnolo’s G3 spoke pattern, featuring 24 round double-butted stainless steel spokes and locking alloy nipples in a 2:1 side-to-side lacing pattern, while the hubs are forged alloy with adjustable preload steel cups, cone bearings and axles with 12mm x 100/142 spacing.
Campagnolo’s USB and CULT ceramic bearings are also available as an upgrade.
All in, Campagnolo says the new Shamal DB wheelset tips the scales at 1585g, and sells for $1475.
The SHAMAL CARBON Disc Brake wheel is entirely hand-assembled by a specialised Campagnolo technician and is 100% checked using electronic instrumentation. This procedure ensures that every single Campagnolo wheel offers maximum performance and reliability
