Campagnolo has unveiled its latest wheelset dubbed the Hyperon, borrowing many of the attributes of its more expensive sibling, the Hyperon Ultra, at a more affordable price.
“The new Hyperon embodies true Campagnolo product perfection: the result of the unparalleled success of the new line of ultra-light, high-performance wheels inaugurated with Hyperon Ultra to expand the range to top road bikes,” boasts Campagnolo.
Constructed using Campagnolo’s HULC (Handmade Ultra-Light Carbon) technology, C-Lux smooth carbon finish and Mo-Mag spoke system, the Hyperon features a 37mm rim alongside the Italian brand’s tubeless 2-Way Fit clincher design.
However, in order to keep costs down, concessions include spinning on machined aluminum hubs and steel bearings instead of the Hyperon Ultra’s svelte carbon hubs and CULT (Ceramic Ultimate Level Technology). Still, they’re treated to Campagnolo’s latest N3W freehub body, but not the N3W Light.
All in, Campagnolo says the Hyperon wheelset tips the scales at an impressive 1340g, which sell for $$2790, a 25% savings over their more expensive counterparts.
