The French rider is best known for finishing 5th in the 1970 World Championship Road Race behind Jean-Pierre Monsere of Belgium, Leif Mortensen of Denmark, Felice Gimondi of Italy, and Leslie West of Great Britain.
In addition, Rouxel also won the 1974 Tour du Méditerranéen, as well as numerous other victories and stage wins in lesser known races throughout France and parts of Europe.
