Traditionalists are rejoicing knowing that Colnago has decided to fill it to the rimĀ with a caliper brake version of its flagship C68 road bike aptly dubbed the C68 Rim, continuing the legacy of squeezer brakes – at least for now.
While the geometry and construction of the C68 Rim remain identical to its disc brake counterpart, Colnago did have to modify the fork in order to accommodate direct-mount brakes, along with revised seat stays and new titanium quick-release dropouts.
However, not everything about the C68 Rim will have purists singing Colnago’s praises, as the rimmer only supports modern, electronic groupsets, leaving one’s choices mainly to a Shimano Dura-Ace groupset, unless an older version of Campagnolo’s Super Record EPS can be found. Sorry, there’s no full Italian flair to be had here.
Also, the C68 Rim doesn’t come cheap, as the frameset will set customers back plenty of lira, to the tune of $7,750.
