Corima Adds MCC EVO and WS EVO Tubeless Wheelsets to Its Range

Corima has expanded its range of carbon wheelsets with two new models called the MCC EVO and WS EVO, marking the French brand’s first foray into the tubeless, hookless road wheel segment.

Weighing in at a claimed 145 grams lighter than the previous generation wheelsets, both MCC EVO and WS EVO will be available in two rim depths, 32 and 47mm, with the 32mm version aimed at high altitude exploits, while the 47mm targets all-around riding. Moreover, Corima says lateral stiffness has also been increased on the MCC EVO by 15%, giving the wheels the greatest stiffness-to-weight ratio on the market.

“When assessing the performance of a wheel it is crucial to consider various factors: aerodynamics, responsiveness, stiffness, as well as weight. One important metric is the stiffness-to-weight ratio; through CORIMA’s patented technologies and wheel design approach, I am delighted that we have achieved exceptional ratios – better than any competitor. I can’t wait to see riders around the world experience the performance and pure character of CORIMA’s hand-built, carbon MCC EVO and WS EVO wheels – whether they choose to run tubular or tubeless ready”, boasts Hugo Poudrel, Product Category Manager, at Corima.

The MCC EVO features 12 paired carbon spokes, along with internal and external widths of 21mm and 26mm, making them compatible with tires ranging from 25 to 32mm, while the WS EVO relies on 20 paired carbon spokes in Corima’s “R2” spoke pattern, as well as the same internal and external rim widths and 32/47mm depth options.

Elsewhere, the wheelsets features a new hub design, comprising a 36-tooth ratchet that provides 10-degree angle of engagement, resulting in a claimed 17% faster engagement and transmission rate than the previous design.

However, the MCC EVO wheels are built around the Corima’s D2T ratchet hubs, while the WS EVO uses the EVO S hubs.

As a result, Corima is so confident about its new MCC EVO and WS EVO, they come with a lifetime warranty for customers who register their wheelsets within one month of purchase, while all other parts carry a two-year warranty. There’s also a new crash replacement program for the first three years.

It’s also worth mentioning, for traditionalists, Corima says it will offer the MCC EVO and WS EVO in tubular versions as well.
