DAHON’s new K-Feather bridges the gap between folding bikes and electric mobility, offering a refined, feather-weight (thus the name) e-bike that’s just as easy to transport as it is to ride.
Weighing in at just 26.5 pounds (12kg), the K-Feather is powered by a DAHON V-Tech rear hub motor, which is a claimed 40% lighter than typical electric-assist bikes on the market, redefining expectations for e-mobility through its clean, minimalistic, lightweight design.
Designed with DAHON-V tech suite, K-Feather incorporates DAHON’s patented DELTECH cable, transforming the frame into a robust triangular structure that significantly enhances frame rigidity. Combined with a Super Down Tube featuring a larger diameter and higher structural strength, the bike delivers more efficient pedaling power and confident climbing performance
The K-Feather is equipped with an in-tube 24V 5Ah Samsung battery, managed by Battery Management System (BMS) featuring more than ten safety protection mechanisms. During charging, the main circuit is automatically disconnected, enhancing overall safety, while the frame houses a high-density in-tube battery, and it is paired with a torque sensor to deliver a smooth and intuitive electric-assist experience. This setup enables an electric-assisted range of up to 31 miles (50 kilometers), making K-Feather well-suited for daily urban commuting.
Additionally, operation is simplified through a multi-function combination switch, allowing a short press for power-on and a long press for power-off—intuitive, efficient, and aligned with everyday urban use. Moreover, the system is powered by a 24V 250W internal-rotor high-speed motor, engineered for compact dimensions, lightweight design, high conversion efficiency, and excellent climbing capability. By harnessing the motor’s torque output, the drivetrain eliminates the need for a traditional derailleur, simplifying the system while minimizing weight and maintenance requirements.
Elsewhere, the Transmission combines a lightweight 53T chainring with a single-speed rear freewheel. Paired with a highly sensitive torque sensor, the system delivers power within just 0.01 seconds, with a maximum output torque of 32 Nm. Front and rear V-brakes meet electric-assist braking requirements while maintaining a compact design, delivering quick starts, strong pedaling support and smooth acceleration. In addition, the concealed controller employs FOC (Field-Oriented Control) drive algorithm that supports startup self-check, automatic sleep mode and delivers a ride that is smooth, powerful, low-noise, and highly efficient—without the need for a conventional display, reinforcing the bike’s minimalist design philosophy.
Regarding the frame, it’s constructed from lightweight aluminum alloy, using argon arc welding to ensure durability while maintaining a refined appearance. The elliptical main beam tube provides excellent rigidity and stability, while internal cable routing within the folding mechanism is protected by stainless steel spring sleeves, preventing damage during repeated folding and unfolding
Lastly, the custom DAHON wheelset ensures smooth rolling and stability, even under high tyre pressure and during sudden braking. When folded, K-Feather measures just 63 × 40 × 73 cm, with a maximum load capacity of 231 pounds (105 kg), perfectly suited for modern urban life.
