DT Swiss Updates Its 350 Hub

DT Swiss has updated its 350 hub, shedding weight while also making it more easily serviceable thanks to the brand’s Star Ratchet 36 SL system.

The 350 hub is available in both quick-release and thru-axle axle standards, with the latter only being offered in 100x12mm or 142x12mm.

Additionally, the hub is available for both traditional J-bend spokes in 20, 24, 28 and 32-hole options, while the straight-pull variant is available only in 20 or 24-hole.

The hub is also fitted with DT Swiss’ Ratchet 36 SL, which uses 36 teeth to provide 10 degrees of engagement.

As mentioned, the 350 hub comprises DT Swiss’ Star Ratchet system, which forgoes pawls in favor of two ratchets that simultaneously push together when pedaling via a spring. As both sides engage, the force is distributed more evenly over a conventional pawl system.

DT Swiss also claims the updated 350 is easier to maintain, requiring no specialist tools. For example, the axle end cap has been redesigned, allowing it to be removed by hand, making it easier to change freehubs when switching between bikes with different drivetrains.

DT Swiss also says the 350 is lighter than its predecessor by 5% for the J-bend version, and 10% for the Straight-pull model, with both being available with either a Shimano or SRAM XD freehub on complete hubs. Unfortunately, there isn’t a Campagnolo N3W freehub option on a complete hub, but one can be purchased separately.

The 350 front hub is priced from $112.90, while the rear starts at $284.90, with pricing being the same for either the J-bend or Straight-pull variants.
