FFWD Unveils New “Drift” Gravel Specific Drift Wheelset

FFWD has unveiled its latest wheelset called the Drift, marking the Dutch brand’s first foray into the gravel segment with a dedicated model.

“With a road wheel line up which is also suitable for light gravel use we saw the trend and growing demand for this category. We therefore started a development process to create a unique and dedicated gravel wheel set. With durability being the key specification in mind we carefully designed the rim and put it together with only the best components you can think of,,” says FFWD.

The new Drift wheelset features a 36mm-deep carbon rim with a 24mm internal width, which FFWD says can accommodate tires ranging from 30mm to 60mm wide.

Additionally, the rims are hookless, allowing them to be used with both tubeless-ready tires, as well as traditional clinchers.

Other features that highlight the Drift are DT Swiss’ latest 240 Ratchet EXP hubs that comprise 24 Aerocomps spokes in a 2:1 lacing pattern with 16 spokes on one side and 8 on the other, while brass nipples are used in order to reduce the risk of corrosion and make long-term maintenance easier.

According to FFWD, the new Drift wheelset sells for €1,699, and tips the scales at a  respectable 1,515g.

  • Pre-installed tubeless tape
