Fizik Sheds Weight Across R1 Range of Saddles

Fizik has put its R1 saddles on a diet, shedding as much 17% across the range courtesy of 3D-printing technology, effectively eliminating unnecessary layers from each saddle’s carbon-reinforced lattice shell.

“Engineered for long, fast days over varied terrain. The result is a versatile saddle range that reduces weight without sacrificing comfort or support,” says Fizik Brand Manager, Alex Locatelli.

The range continues to comprise the Vento Argo R1, Tempo Aliante R1 and the Vento Antares R1, albeit with the insignia “R1 Light”, which rely on Fizik’s ultra-stiff carbon rails and coverless EVA foam padding, as well as the same ergonomic shape that has come to define each saddle.

Featuring a short-nose, aggressive profile with minimalist padding, the Vento Argo R1 Light is available in two widths, 140mm and 150mm, while the Tempo Aliante R1 Light is aimed more towards long-distance comfort thanks to its wider 145mm and 155mm perches.

A favorite of the peloton for years, the Vento Antares R1 Light continues with its tapered, streamlined shape in the same 140mm and 150mm widths as its predecessor.

All things considered, depending on the width, the Vento Argo R1 Light tips the scales at 149 grams and 154 grams, while the Tempo Antares R1 Light and the Aliante R1 Light weigh in at 144/148 grams and 122/123 grams, respectively.

All three saddles sell for the same price of $229.99.
