FLIT Wants You to Have Your Folding Bike and Caviar Too

FLIT not only wants its customers to have a lightweight folding eBike, but the British brand also wants to treat them to caviar too.

Last week, Brompton launched its latest T Line Electric folding bike, touting it as its lightest folding eBike to date, albeit with a hefty price tag of €6,799.

In response, FLIT is throwing down the gauntlet, not only balking at the price of its competitor, but the fact that its M2 folding eBike weighs in at just .4kg more, and at cost that’s almost a third of the price. This is where the caviar comes in.

To sweeten the deal (even though the taste is sour), FLIT has decided to thrown in a half-kilo tin of Fortnum & Mason high-grade caviar with the purchase of its M2 (£2,400) for £5,800.

“It turns out you can buy a lot of things for £7 per gram, including high-grade caviar from Fortnum & Mason. Given the current cost of living, we have decided to give commuters what they are clearly calling for: a Flit M2 folding e-bike plus a half-kilo tin of caviar to power their ride for the bargain price of £5,800. Or you could buy two Flit M2s and still have plenty left over for accessories and kit,” says FLIT.

Like the T Line Electric, the M2 features a similar 250Wh hub motor with a max torque of 35 Nm, as well as a 230Wh lithium-ion battery that can provide up to 50 kilometers (31 miles) of travel depending on the level of assist and terrain.

Additionally, the FLIT M2 uses aerospace-inspired adhesive bonding rather than welding. In fact, the manufacturing process is so novel that every frame is handmade and assembled in Cambridge. Moreover, while Brampton can boast that its T Line Electric is made from premium titanium, FLIT counters by saying, “because it is designed as an eBike from the start, with all electronics built into the frame, and doesn’t have to resort to exotic materials like titanium in order to achieve its lightweight design at a lower cost.”

“Our team loves a good debate about weight, and we acknowledge that we’re making premium eBikes that do more than the average,” says FLIT’s Alex Murray. “But when half a kilo costs thousands, we think value should weigh in too. FLIT’s mission is simple: to tip the scales towards fast, flexible, and fun urban travel without unduly weighing down people’s wallets. Smart design, not extravagant pricing, is what makes great eBikes accessible.”
