To the rejoice or triathletes and time trialists, HED has decided to go deep with the launch of its new Jet 180 rear wheel.
Despite having a very disc-like appearance, as one can glean from the images, the new Jet 180 is in fact a spoked wheel, comprising a series of inter-laced spokes in conjunction with a traditional hub.
“The 180 is designed to go very fast and handle great in all wind conditions. It is a simple concept that has proven itself quite complicated to execute. If you’re racing where aero discs are not allowed, where extreme crosswinds are likely, or if you just don’t want a full aero disc – we hear you. The 180 is your wheel,” boasts HED.
Weighing in at 1,800 grams, the Jet 180’s tubeless-ready rim has a maximum external width of 32.5mm and an internal width of 21mm that’s been optimized for 25mm to 28mm tires.
Offered in both rim and disc brake variants, the made-in-Minnesota Jet 180 sells for $1,900, which has a lead time of 4 to 6 weeks.
