Olympia has unveiled its latest electric gravel bike called the SLED, offering gravelers what the Italian brand describes as “a gravel e-bike that combines comfort, power and high battery capacity for an unforgettable experience for gravel riders who love exploring dirt roads.”
Featuring a frameset that combines the sturdiness of 6061 aluminum, and the compliance of a carbon fiber fork, the SLED is assisted by a 250-Watt Polini E-P3+ high-performance motor mated to an 820Wh battery that puts out a hefty 75Nm of torque.
The E-P3+ motor is equipped with a pedal-assist control system that ensures precise delivery of torque based on the force exerted on the pedals, while responding promptly to variations in pedaling action. Moreover, the Polini motor takes optimization to the next level by delivering an instant response when riders start pedaling and an equally immediate interruption of assistance when they stop pedaling, providing active assistance up to a cadence of 120 r/min. Also, the motor has five mappings: Touring, Dynamic, Race and two others that can be customized via the smartphone app. The E-P3+ also has a compact wiring system that uses automotive-derived Canbus technology to transmit more data, faster and with greater precision. In addition, there’s a user-friendly 2-button Switch Controller that’s mounted at the top of the handlebar, along with a display that’s incorporated into the frame, offering a practical, better protected and perfectly accessible way to view data. Also, if necessary, the E-P3+ can be removed with ease, simplifying maintenance tasks, even on individual components.
Additionally, the battery is a more advanced version of the PowerNine, a product designed by Olympia to significantly boost the performance and autonomy of its e-bikes. Compact and lightweight. the 820Wh Olympia PowerSlim 8 incorporates cutting-edge technology to ensure efficient energy management. As a result, the combination of the battery and the Polini E-P3+ motor lets riders tackle long “energy-intensive” rides without having to worry about any unpleasant surprises from the charge indicator. Also, the supplied 4 Ampere battery charger allows a full charge to be completed in just 5 hours.
Elsewhere, the SLED is equipped with a luggage rack and mudguard attachment points, as well as accommodations for a dropper seat post, availing it for potential backpacking duties, while gearing, stopping power and traction come courtesy of Shimano GRX 11-speed groupset, disc brakes and wheels shod with 50 mm cross-section tires.
Offered in a stylish black/green colorway, the new SLED is available in two sizes, S/M and L.
