If you think Partington’s previous MKII R-Series 39/44 wheelset tipped the scales at a feathery weight, the bespoke Australian brand has really defied gravity with the launch of its latest MKII R-Series 31/31.
Utilizing the same hooked rim design and low-density, aerospace-grade foam core construction as its deeper profile sibling, the lower rim depth of the 31/31 brings the weight down to a mere 1,060 grams.
Additionally, the new 31/31 also comprises Partington’s composite carbon shell hub, proprietary Dynamic Bearing Architecture and InTension spoke technology.
“We are delighted to add the 31 wheelsets to our range. All our wheels are designed as an integrated system, with all components designed to work together and optimize the wheel’s performance. The 31’s lower profile further reduces what is already an exceptionally light wheel, so it really sings going uphill. Other wheels ask you to accept trade-offs: stiffness for comfort or weight for cornering performance. With the MKII R-Series, we have managed to unify all these aspects for a ride like no other,” says founder Jon Partington.
The MKII R-Series 31/31 sells for a hefty $6,400, which can be purchased directly from Partington, or through select dealers worldwide.
